Climate change is one of the greatest worldwide challenges, especially for the agricultural sector, where weather conditions have a direct impact on every stage of production.
At Citrusvil, we take on this challenge through our production methods. Our sustainability model is based on science, innovation, and a commitment to the future, integrating practices that reduce environmental impact and strengthen a low-carbon economy.
Our new sustainability video shows how we integrate energy efficiency, responsible use of resources, and our circular economy model that transforms our operation.
Every action matters
From the field to industrialization, we work to have a positive impact on the environment, communities, and future generations.
• Renewable energy: more than 60% of the industrial matrix comes from clean sources, such as biogas obtained from production waste.
• Circular economy: we compost thousands of tons of organic matter every harvesting season and reuse treated effluents for fertigation.
• Effluent treatment: Citrusvil has the world’s first lemon effluent treatment plant, capable of generating biogas and producing electricity from renewable sources. The effluent resulting from lemon processing is converted into biogas, which fuels our industrial boilers, partially replacing natural gas consumption. This energy is injected into the national grid with an installed capacity of 3 MW, equivalent to the average consumption of 2,500 Argentine households.
• Efficient water management: we treat and reuse more than 1.4 million m³ per season.
• Agricultural innovation: we apply practices that improve soil health and reduce our carbon footprint.
These actions are part of our Sustainability Policy, which is in keeping with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and global emission mitigation targets.
A possible future, if we act today
Every technological improvement, every investment in clean energy, and every responsible decision we make reinforces a single purpose: to produce while caring for the environment and communities.
